iSingles looks at first site to a good internet dating site, but problems with page loading and poor reviews regarding spam emails to members had led us to rate it quite low on recommendations list.
They cover a variety of singles including those looking for a longterm serious relationship to those looking for a more casual thing or a touch of flirting. They say they have a good number of profiles (835,000+) so there should be plenty of variety but we found rather less than we hoped when we ran a few sample searches.
The actual website design is on the simple side, but this disguises some useful features. The site allows webcam video clips in addition to photos in your profile. We also commend iSingles for having a regularly updated blog, which includes posts of interest to the dating community such as 'Three hints for flirting with a man' and 'The course of a typical date'.
Signing up is easy and only takes a few minutes - if you can get it to work. Some of the questions are not standard on many of the other dating sites, such as how long your longest previous relationship was, and whether you have ever lived with a partner. We didn't like that answers are from a dropdown list and you are unable to move on to the next page unless you pick one - so you are forced, for example, to pick a religion from the list or say you're an atheist - most other sites offer a 'I'd rather not say' option.
We had some problems with the site, repeatedly getting 'page not found' messages during the sign-up process, and as a result were unable to find the membership cost. We have also heard some less than favourable comments from people who have used the site in the past, about the quality of their members and spam and scam emails.
